Feel free to expand on that, or propose an alternative if you wish

Just a thought at this stage. Some threads run on for a long time (eg, "which distro", "age call" etc) because they are interesting/apply to a lot of people, basically splitting these threads off would allow us to "de-clutter" the coffee lounge for other every day discussions. Whats your opinion?

Lastly, this is only an idea atm, so if anyone (does/does not) like it feel free to say - all comments do get read and taken into consideration.

Well, I like the current mish-mash of discussions and polls.
Increasing the thread list length would be a good improvement, though. You could spare the upcoming bandwidth by replacing the buttons by text (in bold letters).

I like the Coffee Lounge the way it is, personally. I can't really offer any sort of argument *against* splitting it up, though. I just like to follow the "if it ain't broke" idea.

You can set your own thread list length from your forum profile now, look for the "topics per page" option.

Rather then split up the threads based on length, why not have seperate poll and coffee lounge sections. The polls seem to be the longest threads, they can have their own section, and then we can still have the idle chit chat of the coffee lounge (over a cup of coffee, I assume?). The occational long thread in the lounge wouldn't be such a big deal then.

Just an idea.

Jeremy
