Yeah it must be horrible. Downloading all those patches almost every week over and over again... Windows will never fix holes in system.

It is fun to watch aint it? I wonder if it will all come crashing down? I wonder if people will just quit using it? Is it really worth all the effort, if all you want to do is email your family and surt the web and you have to buy all the extra spyware and virus protection on top of the user licenses and OS on top of the mamath PC you need now to run XP?
Some people have told me they don't think a fat penguin really embodies the grace of Linux, which just tells me they have never seen a angry penguin charging at them in excess of 100mph. They'd be a lot more careful about what they say if they had.

On the contrary, it's quite a blast clicking on those yellow exclamation point thingies near the clock thingy and then clicking on the download now button and then watching that blue progress bar creeping to the right (sometimes it retracts too which reminds me of a shy little earthworm...smothered with blue paint...trying to explore the wide wide world)

Seriously now, doesn't Linux also need to be constantly updated? Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to start yet another religious OS war here. I just want to get my facts straight.

well there are hundreds of updates a year but so few of them are critical
so most people only use an updated kernel when they get a new distro.

i found 8 critical updates for the kernel and there all for early versions

Well, I have no choice but to use windows. I really dont care hence I did not pay for it. Wait yes I did because I could be getting paid more with the money savings.. Really though. I have one freakn question for those M$ freaks! Why cant I uninstall media player and messenger? Why does a server version of their OS include media player and leave me getting patches for a peice of software I do not wont. Thats why I love linux. Did you know if I decied 'hey I don't wont this on my computer I don't have to install it... Im FREE! I SEE THE LIGHT NOW! OMG!

    RE windows users

Hey, not to burst your bubble but as it seems, windows is not the only one getting hit. I just got an email about 7 or 8 different kinds of sun servers getting mad viral outbreaks. These people who do this are, well, STUPID!!

Anyone who reads tech news knows Mircrosoft is under constant barrage by viruses/worms/trojans/malware. Whether this is something inherently wrong with their OS or just "hit the biggest target" is a subject of debate, but will not be debated here. Locked.
