Let's make our own distro!
We all have our likes and dislikes and wish there were distros that were nearer our ideal distro. Well instead of wishing for them why don't some of us get together and make our own? There is no real reason why we can't do so.
If anyone is interested in this idea please email me so that we can begin chatting about it. If enough people are interested then maybe we could even have a forum on this board for public discussions?

We don't need another distro, there's already way too many as it is. If you're not happy with the current distros, look up Linux From Scratch and make something based off that.

Well, what kinds of things are you looking to do in this distro?
I've been wanting a package manager that handles both binary and source, remembering on a per package basis, and which allows you to directly pass ./configure options on the command line without relying on something more generic like use flags (sorry if I misunderstand how Gentoo works with that). ABS is great and all, but I dislike that it can't even upgrade automatically for packages in Arch's binary repository.
I'd also like it to try to detect new versions of source on ftp's for packages not in the repository, and if found adjust the build script automatically for the new version. Again, ./configure options must be passable from the command line, in this case with the option to override the buildscripts options, or overwrite them entirely.
Now I just need to learn to code
