Did you try the other way? The tracert way?

    Code:
    tracert google.com

But that's weird ipconfig isn't working...

One other suggestion, if you're really desperate, you could maybe try Cygwin (a Linux emulator for Windows) and see if that lets you run ifconfig.

Post the contents of "ipconfig" and "ipconfig /all".

You will need to contact the Systems Administator and ask for permission. If it's OK you will be issued the proxy ip.

ive also installed firefox on a couple of school computers. i needed a sploit to get the excalated privs tho. and i agree live CDs are fun, we used the auditor to get the admin pass for the computer, which also so happend to be the network pass aswell. somehow they cought on tho and changed all the passwords and even worse put passes on all the BIOS. well, i took a box into a janitors clauset one day and cracked it again. I have a battery pack i made that i use for everything 12V, so i opened the box, removed the CMOS battery and replaced it. i got into the BIOS and changed the order, then started cracking. didnt get far before the D-cells ran out. o well atleast the bios was reset. i got the pass later on when i put the box back into the math room.

o lol and i forgot to answer your problem. they had done a very good job of making sure no-one could get IP addresses (dont know how they did it). to get the proxy, i did a
    Code:
    net stat > computers.txt
then i went thru looking at all the computers on the school network, and sure enough one was called proxy. lol easy as pie from here. if u dont find a proxy, then i guess this wont work
    Code:
    ping PROXY
whats the most trouble ne of you have ever got in at school?
i made myself an admin acct once, then when they called me to the office they just told me not to do it again.
