I have been using 'Free Download Manager' in xp. Its pretty good, no problems yet. You need the Flashgot extension to link it to firefox.

I always used Fresh Download. You have to give your email and they send you a link to download, or something like that. I don't know if they sold the address, since I gave a spam account. It worked pretty well, but I didn't use it much beyond downloading ISO's on my dialup. It didn't suffer broken resumes like so many other managers did for me.

If you're just looking for robust resuming, there are some win32 binaries for wget floating around.

Is there supposed to be one in Firefox. My flashgot says that there isn't.

They've removed my sig linking to Sun Microsystems (Solaris Download Page) before, and a few non-profit orgs, (debian, apt-get support etc), they get really pissed off about it.

Flashgot just links firefox to a separate download manager. In firefox go to Tools > FlashGot > More Options. There is a drop down box at the top that lists all the supported download managers. When you download one and install it, set that drop down to match your chosen manager. Next time you go to download a file the option to use flashgot will be avaliable.

Do any of these download managers offer any advantages that the integrated Firefox dl manager does not?
