Hello, I am pretty new to linux.

I did manage to get red hat 8.0 installed on a second hard drive the other day and came here mainly because I have no clue how to install software on linux. (and found my answer within 30 seconds.)
I've only been using windows untill now.

I do have one question though, what are the penguin icons right underneeth your name?

    Hi all,

I am pretty sure it is with 100 posts you get your first one. You are then a LinuxForums Newbie. I am not sure how many posts you need for the rest of them.

Hello and welcome! I'm sure you'll find this community quite friendly and helpful! Be sure to check out the IRC channel (irc.freenode.net on #linuxforums). I found it most helpful to answer all my questions right away. And more importantly to socialize with people with similar interests. Stop by sometime!
