    Do you still use windows?

I've seen several "Why did you switch to linux?" topics, but I'm curious as to what people still use windows for, or if they do. I've just recently formated my entire hard drive and given it entirely to SuSE 9.2 and I'm curious what is keeping others from doing the same.
Fortunately, I've never been a big gamer, as that seems to be one of the primary reasons for people to hold on to Windows.
So, do you still dual boot? and if so, why?

    Hi zachtib,

I still dual boot because my iPod works nicely under Windows (having trouble with that under Linux) and Windows has Halo and Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield. Plus, I am having trouble with my printer so far (will eventually work on that).

I had only been using computers about 6 months when I made my way to Linux. I never really became dependant on Windows apps.
OH NOOOOO!!!!!! You did it the way I said?

Still have to keep my hand in it for support purposes. There's also an app or two that isn't available for Linux.

I keep XP still. Sometimes things go wrong with my Linux partitions. Like I will be off-line or the sound stops working.(I like to tweak things)
So, I boot into Windows, to see if that particular thing is still working or not(no tweaking in Windows). So, if it isn't working there, I know I have more than a OS problem.

Other than that, I don't use Windows.

I totally dumped windows a while ago... I don't have a use for it... my system is configured perfectly with linux, so I don't need to run windows for any of that proprietary software or special hardware functions

I keep it for three main reasons:

First off, I don't know how well CD-Burning stuff works in Linux, as my past experiences haven't been so great. So I'm keeping Windows around for it.

Secondly, I am a major gamer. Though I've gotten my current MMORPG to run with WINE, I want to keep Windows around for other stuff I play.

Thirdly, I keep Windows as a failsafe. I'm not entirely Linux-fluent as yet, and so I screw anything up, I need a backup. For example, the time when I tried to manually compile X and ended up without a desktop environment. I used Windows until I decided to go distro-hopping again.

However, since SuSE is awesome, and I'm being more careful, and I'm learning much better this time, I am finding myself far less dependent on Windows.

well, as far as cd/dvd burning goes, k3b is a great program, it works flawlessly on my system, it should come with most standard kde installations. Just to let you know, animated avatars are not allowed - http://www.linuxforums.org/rules.php

I have a couple computers at home, so this one is 100% linux, but the other ones are win2k and winXP (my wife's). I still keep a hold of my windows machine for many of the things others have mentioned (CD Burning, a failsafe, for support).

I have apache, php, mysql and perl installed on both my linux and w2k box, but I tend to have developed more on my windows machine and have yet to copy everything over. But, seeing I have all that functionality in linux too, it is only a matter of time.

Finally, there are a couple programs that I do use in windows, one of them being MS Money, that I have yet to get working under linux or have found a suitable replacement. Back when I was a big console gamer, I had a PS2, XBox and N64 (before the gamecube came out) and I guess I have the same philosophy today. I make sure I have the hardware to play the games I want to play. So, the same goes in the OS world. I have both in case I need one for a particular program. As long as there is good/useful software in windows and linux, I will have them both for a long time!
