Here is the copyright at the bottom of BSD.org:
**BSD is a registered trademark of Berkeley Software Design, Inc.
And here is a snippet from the history of BSD:
Early in 1977, Bill Joy put together the "Berkeley Software Distribution."
    So apparently it's both.

    Hi all,

Well, I guess I may as well offer some invites as well since no one I know wants one. Email me at bryanabsmith@gmail.com and I will gladly send you an invite.
