Anyone want to debate distros? Personally, I can't stand anything based on RPMs (dependency hell) and (maybe it's better now) I found apt-rpm to be insufficient. I like Gentoo and Slackware the best, and Debian is good too, though I haven't tried any other DIY type distros.

But Ilike SUSE as well too.
And as for dependency problems, finding the right site with the right package is a necessity.
sometimes to solve dependencies I have to find 7 or 8 rpm's. for me that is not so bad, considering how much time I spend on my comp each day.
Wish I got paid for how much time I spend on my pc. Lots o OT.How to know if you are a geek.

I'm an avid Ubuntu user. I also like Gentoo but lately I like the "It just works" concept of Ubuntu.

I think there's a distro for everyone. I use mepis right now, but I'm planning on trying something new. I'm thinking vector.Stumbling around the 'net:
