That's very sad. I'd love to say, "Things will get better", but that would just be a platitude. Instead I'll say that things probably won't get any worse. I don't think long distance love works... I've tried it.

    Sorry to hear that man.

Perhaps the old saying will hold true in this case:

"If you love something, let it go. If it comes back to you, then you know it's yours to keep".

Depends on what you mean by "gentoo". I had a really minimal install on a 640Mb drive in a 486. It's a lot of work to figure out what you have to have and what you can do without.

I'm personally amazed you could keep a long distance relationship going that long. I've tried before and so far I'm 0 for 3. The first one lasted about a month and the second 2 never even got to the "mutually exclusive" stage. I have trouble dating someone I can't be physically around on a regular basis.

Yeah, that's tough. If you can't grow together, you grow apart.

That's exactly what happened with me and my last ex. We were in colleges in different parts of the state. We just grew apart.

It happened to me as well. I started university and things just fell apart. In my case, it took a while to get over it. I don't recommend long distance love... I used to drive nearly 100 miles and back to see my g'friend.

This year, I burned my love letters! Therapy!!

I suppose this thread could also be considered a kind of therapy. I burned pictures, deleted jpgs I had on my site, and removed any and all reference I could find to her. Took me the better part of 3 years to recover. Haven't had a steady since, and that's going on 5 years now. I don't want pity, though; I'm very picky since her. I prefer quality over quantity.

University is a whole 'nother issue. For most people, starting college is a time of great and sudden personal change, and for two people to change in the same direction usually requires time and patience. That's asking a lot on top of the demands of schoolling.
