Just thought I'd stop by and introduce myself. My name is Mark and I just got SuSE installed 2 days ago after an initial bumpy ride. Tried to install Mepis from the point and click book..no luck. I was really disappointed at how little explanation was available in a so-called beginner's book. I'm not a beginner but not an expert either. If they're trying to recruit new Linux users with that book........Next try was a Fedora install from the Linux for Non-Geeks book; wound up with a gray screen after an hour or two. I finally wised up and looked at some reviews of distros (took me a while to figure out what a distro was! :>) I saw where Novell SuSE offered INSTALLATIOn HELP if necessary-I jumped on it and now have SuSE installed and running perfectly on my second drive. My wife loves the gecko-you know where my next install is gonna be!
ANYway, linux is a *little* bit different from XP! :>) I have many questions about some basic stuff before my two books from Amazon get here probably Wednesday. I'm going over to the newbie forum right now-I'll see you there!
