| What do you mean by the government taking care of things? I do not mean to be rude, but I don't see the connection.
Daedalus did not die, his son Icarus did. But you are right, because in this case, Icarus would rightly be the narrator - thus saying that it is dangerous to switch to Free Software.
BTW, anyone figure out what Swimmers are?
[edit: Xerxes is Persian history, but a greek form of the name.]

| I said the government or something similar.
I meant the idea that you can sit back and some superior benevolent
force like a government or a corporation or God will make things
easy for you so that you won't have to work hard yourself.I don't believe
this idea existed at the time. Quote: |

| You're right it was Icarus.I realized my mistake after I posted
and edited it. |

| sort of a promethean character though, giving fire to man by defying the gods...there should be a great allegorical name somewhere, I think that would add a special spice.

Prometheus isn't so bad, actually. But I'm looking more for someone who spreads the word, a preacher of some sort.

| Zarathustra is good for that; however, its quite over done with Nietzsche's use, you could try a derivative like Zoroaster, or your own equivalent.

| Zoroaster isn't bad at all. With the help of Wiki, I think I might use his modern Persian name Zartosht, and perhaps modify it to Zarthes/as/os. I can't help it - I like the sound of Greek!

| I like your modifications, the problem with the modern Farsi equivalents is that he is not really seen as a light-bringer per se; however, under the greek nomenclature he is...the mods are good because they are much more subtle, which creates for a stronger symbolic meaning...my 1 1/2 c

already in the story. This is what I'm talking about : Quote:
"Soon enough, the Headquarters started gaining power, because
most young souls rather avoided Flying lessons altogether, trusting
the HQ’s promise of easy, carefree lives.
| So I was saying that the idea that some superior force (like the
Headquarters) will give you an "easy carefree life" did not
exist at the time of ancient Greece.I don't think it did anyway.
So you probably won't find any mythological names or stories
which are dealing with this sort of thing either in favour or against it. |

| OK, I get you now. You are right, but I was thinking more like a historic figure that goes well with "Xerxes'" lightbringing, rather than rescuing from an enslaving power. Moses? Nah... Anyway... there must be a time in history when a guy brought enlightenment to an imprisoned but unaware people... Troy.. who was the guy who wanted to warn them?... nah... anyone have any other ideas?
