The whole Idea that Windows is more secure because of the way the develope software is crazy, open source software can produce security critical updates (when a project is active) alot faster than the devs at microsoft can mill out anything.

Wow, am I glad I just updated my wife's computer with sp2? Even with all the pain in the ass balloons popping up telling her that automatic update is turned off and her system is at risk I am sure she feels much more secure, 15 times more secure to be exact.

I'm surprised. Valve has been more than happy to whore out Linux dedicated servers for their Windows-only games in the past.

ty for this comment, its every true, the linux server client is very piss poor WHEN IT WORKS, most of the time it says "you have been dropped from steams(its an ip but i kno that its the server list) server list" so basicly the only way people can get on ur server is through an ip and u dont get any people but friends, and of course, steams anti-cheat peice of crap wont work

These types of threads are ridiculous. I can make all Windows, Linux, and Unix secure. Not one is more secure then other. Its about how much you know about the operating system. If you are going to say that something is less secure, state why you think that.

Those who have mentioned that Windows is less secure, go ahead and do state why you think that.

Well, I'm a little neutral here on this subject, so here's my take on it. Windows has a larger user base, is based off of DOS (still), and being corporately controlled, it either takes Microsoft a month or two to release a patch or they try to hide the exploit, which by then someone else has already found out about it and is using it. Linux on the other hand, has a smaller user base, is based off of Unix (more secure than DOS), and when an exploit is discovered, work on a patch is started almost immediately. 'nuff said.
