    Windows VISTA

Well MS has finally given a release name to 'Longhorn', Windows VISTA.
I would like to see how much effort they have put into the OS or if they have just copied ideas from os X and Linux

Does anyone have any decent sites where some recent pics have been taken of Vista (Longhorn)

This only reminds me of TechieMoe's post about Linuxforums.org becoming a slashdot mirror...

wow, what a useless page... they say NOTHING about it... WE MUST GET IT NOW!!! or not...
Here's why Linux is easier than Windows:
Package Managers! Apt-Get and Portage (among others) allow users to install programs MUCH easier than Windows can.
Hardware Drivers. In SuSE, ALL the hardware is detected and installed automatically! How is this harder than Windows' constant disc changing and rebooting?

I got my hands on one of the early betas , and was most definitely not impressed.
The "hardware detection" is incredibly long. They say 10 minutes, but it took at least a half hour for my hardware to be detected. By no means am I running a "slow" pc, I've got an AMD 3200XP CPU w/ 1.5g 400 ddr in here, which handles everything at a nice, even pace from what I've seen.

The beta I installed (admittedly, it was the 4000 beta, not the newer) completely crippled numerous applications, such as my email application (Barca), and was slower than anything to run.

We'll see how it turns out, but I have a feeling that this is going to be a rather resource intensive OS.

Which makes me wonder how well it will run resource-intensive applications.
