- 08-01-2005 #21PS3 OS is linux, you just don't have access to it, all you can basically access are the pretty sony screens for games, dvd etc like on the ps2.

The only system ive known that did not need much moding to run *nix was the dreamcast...yep i was sad enouth to try it, but on the ds...now thats not needed.

Actually it is 733mhz, and Shallax did a VERy good port of gentoo for it

Seriously, Linux on the DS really does show the portability of Linux but as I see it, Linux is already working on all the platforms that it needs to to succeed.

I dont think linux on the DS is needed It's just wanted, linda like an obsessive hobby, for fun, just to say it has been done.

Yeah, I could see how it could be fun to get linux to work on a bunch of different devices. But then at that point, you are not doing it to actually "use" it, it is more of just getting it to work then moving onto the next device...
Personally, I played around with linux a few months ago and now that I have a working server with slack 10.1, I don't see me needing to play around anymore. I have something that I like and that functions great, so now I am just using it and go on with my day:)Join the Open Source Revolution. Support GNU/Linux.
