Is that anything to do with the new java dependency issues in 2.0? There was a bit of a kerfuffel about that.

It says (I think in the faq) that they didn't include Java because it's not free, so then they didn't include OpenOffice because it needs Java.

I don't know about right now, but there was a time when you could run OO without Java, it just wasn't as "pretty."

    Not in OpenSuSE 10 beta1.
There are two major products that come out of Berkeley: LSD and UNIX. We don't believe this to be a coincidence.

But once 10.0 final is released, you should be able to... I thought....

Does anyone know if they will keep SuSE Pro around after openSUSE is launched? (will they continue to release the professional version with non-GPLed programs like Java)

They're pretty vanilla, and not much has changed aesthetically on the desktop from SuSE 9.3. The big aesthetic changes are the bootsplash and login screen, but I can't really make screenshots of those.

Here's what you see when you log in for the first time: Image Link

I'm having a bit of trouble uploading other images, so you'd have to wait for more; I may install Gnome later just to take a peek at it.

Mod edit:: Please do directly post images into threads. Provide outbound links instead. -TM
