    linux vers windows

I am compiling a list of things you can do in windows you canít do in Linux and a list of things you can do in Linux you canít do in windows.
I donít want stability or security concerns. I donít care if you need commercial software to do it just a list.

I start us out with a short list.

Things that you can do in windows you canít do in Linux.

ē Instant desktop search, never seen one for Linux.
ē Ability to use the latest ati graphics cards in a Linux system is always a bummer.
ē Windows has more games and tends (I my experience) have fewer graphics card compatibility issues than Linux.
ē Windows has a graphical safe mode.

Things you can do in Linux you canít do in windows.

ē I know about msvdm in windows (ms virtual desktop manager) but I am always missing the gnome ability to save a desktop and start it up later unchanged.
ē In windows you canít create a bare command line server that is almost required for efficiently hosting jsp pages.

If you know how to do something someone else has stated is impossible quote it and say how to do such a task.

Please donít make posts saying well Linux is more secure ect because I have had windows for years and never gotten a virus.

Linux does not require certain file extensions to be executable (and other similar functions).

Windows does not allow different window managers (AFAIK).

Windows doesn't allow easy source compilation (AFAIK).

There are a couple things I could think of to add to your list...

yes I will say that is in some cases an isue but is is also fixed in vista wich is pacaged with a command line and on the fly .net compilation.

I don't understand the first one. about executible file extentions.

    Linux Needs:
Ability to use Pinnacle AV/DV Deluxe ver. 9 with capture/editing program like Pinnacle's Studio.

    Windows Needs:
An easier way to tweak the desktop (like Control Center in KDE) without having to buy a program to do so.
