Just thought I would see if anyone has any info on M.S. Vista.
What I have heard:
Dot net is it's platform?
With .net they the software companies are going to switch from selling you software, to leasing or renting the software by monthly subscriptions.
So, if I buy photoshop, I would have to pay a monthly subscription to keep using it.

click icon, ".net" checks subscription and either allows or disallows use.

secondly: The plan is to introduce commercials just like on tv. everytime you go to a website, you will have to watch a brief AD..

thirdly: you will have no control over certain software downloads. ie. patches etc...

Has anyone heard of this or have I been misled..

I sure as hell hope it's not true!!
Nah, there'd be way too much complaining from people like us...
Then again, 99% of Windows users don't know what .NET or a patch even is... hmm... I don't think they'd really care, since Microsoft would probably find some way to mask what they're doing, just like they call product activation "a good way to ensure the user's privacy".
