    but I have to ask... What sets lunar apart from Gentoo? (All I've read so far is teh "About" page)

    It's still up: the link works for me, and the last news post is dated August 10, 2005.

    And yeah...it seems identical to Gentoo, just with less archs supported...


    On a second look, it seems that the installation may be a bit simpler (can't really tell), and it also seems based on the 2.4 kernel...

    You can get a newer kernel if you like.
    I personally use Sourcemage, which is very similar to Lunar.
    And the installer is quite a bit different than Gentoos.
    Actually I haven't tried the new Gentoo installer so I guess I really can't say that.
