    AMD 64 FINALLY!!

whooo, I finally broke down and saved up some cash to buy myself an AMD Athlon 64 3000, it isn't much nowadays (they make a 4400 don't they?) but it is a 64 bit cpu and it runs about 20 C cooler

It is quite nifty to multitask with and the games.. oh man.. Half-Life 2 runs like a dream with my settings boosted (almost) all the way up, as does Doom 3, UT2K4, and WoW. I must say that this was a very good investment. Next on my list is to get that Nvidia card..

    Any AMD 64 lovers here?

I dont know any difference between them, but i went with a 939 for more upgrade room

That's exactly the main difference. The 939 has an upgrade path, whereas the 754 is being phased out. Also, the 939/940 handles dual-channel RAM.

I would love to get an AMD 64... But my old Athlon Xp 3200+ still does fine! So for now it's not worth the upgrade. And my GPU is a Radeon 9700 Pro, which still performs quite well .

With 3D acceleration in Linux? I bow to you, for you are persistent.

No unfortunately not... I've given up on that! Other than the freaking Linux 3D support, it's still a pretty good GPU . I only really need it for gaming, and that's done in Windows.

I'm planning on getting one sometime somewhat soon But my Radeon 9100 will prolly stay for a long time since 3D works without proprietary drivers
