Strange how I haven't heard anyone say this...
Has anyone else thought that the Katrina and last season's four hurricanes in one month were caused by global warming heating the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico, thus creating more power for hurricanes?

I found out just yesterday that there are people out there who believe Katrina was a man-made hurricane, and that someone was actually controlling and stirring it as it travelled across the gulf.
Sound pretty strange to me, and I don't at all believe that to be the case, but I won't go so far as to say it's totally impossible.

yea, I believe that our wasteful polluting society is a big cause in modern natural disaster. We seem to be getting larger and lager disasters happening.

Calling them "natural" isn't really right anymore...

as a senior in meteorology in college (pats mysefl on back
) I would say it is not necessarily. Although this was a strong storm, it wasn't the strongest. The bigger issue is people living along coasts in very bad situations.

Personally I blame global warming on those who run systems with older Althons and newer Prescott P4's.
I say let's take care of those in need in the gulf region now and point fingers afterwards.Dell Precision T7400 Workstation

in the geology classes i took in college it's very evident that global warming is a cycle that happens every 10-20,000 years. granted we may be helping it but it's not totally our fault either. it's happened hundreds of times in the history of the earth. i live in utah and a lot of the evidence is right in the layers in the mountains.
