Been using QWERTY for too long now. Can't imagine ever trying to change...something about an old dog and new tricks...

This is where I stand. I know there are different keyboard layouts but I don't want to switch quite simply because I don't want to relearn.

The thing is that it would be hard for most people to change because we use more than our home computers and most other computers use QWERTY. I've never seen a physical DVORAK KB in my life...it would be difficult to go from one to the other everyday...it's already tuff enuf to switch to my laptop from my natural kb.

it actually took me a while after firstseeingthe (dvorak) after the US kb layout options to figure out what it was.. then it just dawned on me one day that there might be something other than qwerty out there... :P

You will get used to dvorak in less than a month, and write as you did using QWERTY in about 2 months ( or less). Thats how it was with me, and I also have no problems using the QWERTY layout, I just feel that its a bit idiotic layout.
I don't know if there are any Dvorak keyboards out there straight from the factory, but it takes about 5 minutes to remap your keyboard, and there are several sites which gives info about different keyboards. Some have other solutions than other again. Like, this old Campaq keyboard has the "J", "U","H" and "F" sideways. But doesnt matter, because who looks at the keyboard when you're typing?
Oh, btw the first Dvorak day was horrible, it was soo slow to type on that, but it got usable after a week.

well.. i just spent a good bit of time disassembling my keyboard... dvorak is weird at the moment.. typing very slow as i try to remember where all the keys moved to.. seems more logical, though.. i can see how certain letter combinations would be easier.. maybe i should force myself not to look at the keyboard as i type with the new setup...

I never took lessons for typing, and have to look at my hands to type now! I just got used to where things are here, and it took me...well...a long time!
