attempts to start flame wars in chats about linux!

an attempt to start an internet flame war on a Nicotine chat.
    me = soymilk!
    my accomplice = fabselux

    Round 1!: stallman vs. linus
11:01:21 [Airn Here] People who are against smoking are communists
11:01:33 [FabseLux] but i am a socialist and i smoke
    11:01:33 * SuperBFG7 is a communist
    11:01:33 [soymilk!] and healthy too!
    11:01:58 [FabseLux]
11:01:58 [kalevi] Fabse: this room is Nicotine because we use a client to soulseek network called Nicotine
11:01:58 [kalevi] for linux and such
11:02:07 [kalevi] if u didnt know..
    11:02:07 [FabseLux] ooh linux
11:02:07 [FabseLux] where can i download?
11:02:07 [soymilk!] libertarian socialist? fabse? =)
11:02:17 [Airn Here] By smoking, you are reducing your life expectancy, which means that you will be much less of a burden on the health and pensions systems of your country when you get to pensionable age
11:02:39 [Airn Here] Aww kalevi, you spoilt it
11:02:39 [FabseLux] soymilk something lik that
    11:02:50 [soymilk!] cool
    11:03:01 [FabseLux] like
11:03:13 [FabseLux] where can i download this linux thing? is it good?
11:03:38 [soymilk!] yeah, this guy named richard stallman created it
11:03:49 [kalevi] Fabse: go to www.ubuntu.com
    11:03:55 [davok] o_O
11:04:02 [kalevi] ubuntu is the most popular desktop linux
    11:04:02 [SuperBFG7] FabseLux: I think straight-edgers don't smocke?
11:04:25 [kalevi] and the easiest to set up for a linux beginner
    11:04:25 [Airn Here] *cough*
11:04:25 [FabseLux] dammit. next time i gotta use a fake account for trolling
    11:04:25 [FabseLux] :P
11:04:25 [soymilk!] fabse i didn't know you were hard-line edge!
11:04:27 [kalevi] you can download a ubuntu live cd that you can boot and try it out without installing anything
11:04:32 [davok] linux was made by Linus Torvalds
    11:04:32 [Airn Here] Ubuntu? Really?
    11:04:50 [kalevi] yes
11:04:50 [FabseLux] im on ubuntu, dorks.
11:04:53 [davok] not some f*cking stallman
11:04:59 [kalevi] i have ubuntu on my 2 machines since last winter..before i only used XP
11:05:18 [kalevi] i got so fed up with windows..i have been very happy about ubuntu
11:05:24 [SuperBFG7] davok: 90% of the system you're using is there because of that stallman, not because of linus
11:05:32 [kalevi] and it was fairly easy to set up..on most computers everything works smooth
11:05:34 [SuperBFG7] starting with gcc and bash
    11:05:38 [FabseLux] yeah. stallman rocks
    11:05:39 [Airn Here] Yawn
11:05:45 [kalevi] linus only started the kernel work
    11:05:46 [kalevi] im finnish too..
11:05:55 [davok] kernel is the most important part
11:06:02 [SuperBFG7] he's extreme, but without him OS and Linux would be nowhere now
11:06:11 [davok] and i think linux IS the kernel
    11:06:17 [SuperBFG7] yeah
11:06:21 [Airn Here] Linus made linux the kernel. GNU and Linus and X and Apache and ****knowswhatelse comprieses Linux the operating system
11:06:23 [davok] the rest is gnu
11:06:28 [SuperBFG7] but do something with just a kernel
    11:06:53 [SuperBFG7] you couldn't even compile it
11:06:53 [kalevi] well yes but i also want something else than the kernel..kernel is maybe 50 kilobytes, what?
11:06:53 [FabseLux] but im thinking about trying bsd anyway. any experiences?
11:06:53 [kalevi] the rest of the system is other than kernel

    Round2!: gentoo flame war
11:06:53 [kalevi] well yes but i also want something else than the kernel..kernel is maybe 50 kilobytes, what?
11:06:53 [FabseLux] but im thinking about trying bsd anyway. any experiences?
11:06:53 [kalevi] the rest of the system is other than kernel
11:07:03 [FabseLux] im thinking about openbsd for my server box
11:07:23 [kalevi] well i think you should try something easy and userfriendly if you have only used windows
11:07:23 [kalevi] but if you are a technical person, then go ahead
    11:07:23 [davok] that's right
    11:07:31 [soymilk!] !netbsd!
11:07:43 [davok] maybe some easy live cd distro at the beginning
11:07:48 [FabseLux] ive sued debian, suse, mandrake, redhat, blag, ubuntu, kubuntu and mepis so far
    11:08:04 [FabseLux] and knoppix
    11:08:04 [FabseLux] used*
11:08:04 * SuperBFG7 stops talking and watches the ongoing distro flamewar
    11:08:04 [brotkoenig] hah
11:08:04 [kalevi] i use my comp mostly for music, warezing, office software and graphics, so Ubuntu works great for me
11:08:09 [Airn Here] You are Darl McBride and I claim my $5
11:08:16 [davok] SuperBFG7, i dont see distro flamewar
11:08:28 [brotkoenig] warez? how old are you?
11:08:30 [FabseLux] and all except debian (-based) sucked, btw :P
11:08:32 [kalevi] i only want a well working system that i can get software easily for, thats all i care about..and it should Just Work
11:08:55 [kalevi] i was joking about warez
11:08:55 [davok] FabseLux, dont start :P
    11:08:55 [brotkoenig] use freeDos then
11:09:10 [davok] (btw all not gentoo sucks
    11:09:11 [kalevi] haha
11:09:21 [kalevi] boys boys give me the matches
    11:09:35 [SuperBFG7] davok: too bad; well I tried :P
    11:09:35 * davok gives
    11:09:36 [FabseLux] oh, gentoo
11:09:47 [FabseLux] id try if i had a more powerful box
11:09:58 [SuperBFG7] you seem to have better luck
    11:10:00 [brotkoenig] lets bash gentoo
11:10:05 [davok] FabseLux, why not now?
11:10:07 [FabseLux] dont want to leave my comp running for ages just to get a bit more performance out of it
11:10:26 [FabseLux] compile time that is
11:10:26 [FabseLux] waste of energy ;P
11:10:28 [SuperBFG7] FabseLux: well, people using gentoo for that reason are dumb anyway
    11:10:28 [FabseLux] imho
11:10:34 [kalevi] i just installed linux on my boyfriends old old laptop..it gave it a new lease on life..it had win 98 before and booting took 4 minutes...
11:10:34 [davok] bah, i have installed gentoo from stage 1 to 300mhz p2, and it didnt take even a week!
11:10:39 [Airn Here] As a gentoo-on-non-optimal hardware user, I agree with Fabse
11:10:53 [SuperBFG7] the nice thing about gentoo is its configuration and documentation
11:11:05 [Airn Here] It doesn't suck, but emerge world after too much time offline is really annoying
11:11:18 [FabseLux] i guess thats true
11:11:18 [SuperBFG7] not the 0.1% speedup you get
    11:11:28 [davok] i love emerge <3
    11:11:42 * FabseLux <3 apt
11:12:06 [FabseLux] any of you tried breezy?
11:12:35 [FabseLux] bb, gotta get some granola
    11:12:35 [FabseLux] s/bb/brb
11:12:35 [davok] i'm currently trying freebsd in old computer
    11:12:39 [soymilk!] hahahaha

hehehe, you could have done some more stuff too, like went to redhat, and then said you were against propietry software, or went to linspire, and said 1 click installation of software was for wussies. You could have gone to gentoo and asked them why they don't make the installer harder. Or you could even go to Yoper and ask them for their next release
