    SUSE or Xandros?

I'm at a crossroads between SUSE and Xandros. They both provide everything I could ever want and are both perfect for me. I don't know which one to use and I really only want one Linux distribution on my hard drive. Any ideas?

try both of them and see which one you like. Then choose. I have used Xandros about a year ago and I was surprised at its quality and level of polish. But unfortunately it wasn't the distro for me at the time as I really needed more programming tools (gcc, jdk) and only had an unreliable dialup connection back then. So, I went out and brought Mandrake and SuSE cd's and have been alternating between them (Mandrake and SuSE) ever since.

If you want a really stable desktop OS, little or no programming environments, then go for Xandros. However, if you would like to tweak stuff, then go with SuSE.
Life is complex, it has a real part and an imaginary part.

    Distros

Suse 10.0 has been by far the most solid Distro I have come across. It also has the newer versions of Firefox, Thunderbird and openoffice. I currently have it running on and old dell 500mhz with 128mb ram. A bit slow but still faster than Win 2000 that was on it previously. The only other good distro I have used was Mepis 3.3.1. Both of these had excellent hardware detection and there were no installation issues.

I second that recommendation. I like them both for different reasons, but SuSE gets the nod for what I do personally.

judging by the specs of your box i'd go with Xandros just because it runs a little quicker than Suse. i have a 1 GHz and Suse drags a little sometimes. Maybe y'all have some tweaks to make my suse run faster because it's really dragging i have 640 MB RAM even what's the deal.

Just to offer a bit of a counterpoint, SuSE is now available completely free, whereas Xandros is not (unless you count the crippled OCE version). I don't know if that's significant to you, but it is a difference.
