    SusePod

Ok. I'm so overwhelmed by this, cause it never worked this way for me with Suse 9.3.

I'm now running Suse 10.0 RC1. I just plugged in my ipod shuffle to charge the battery and bang!!, Suse auto mounted that sucker and dropped a cute little ipod icon on the desktop for me.

If this is no new news, then please disregard, but i'm overjoyed! One step closer for Linux!

It ran fine for me in 9.3 with a friends iPod, but there have been those that had problems. I'm curious though, did you try that same iPod under 9.3? I had been lead to believe it was a problem with blocks on the iPods not being recognised. Maybe they got that fixed.

Yes. It's actually my wifes and it rarely gets a change of files. When it mounts it and puts the loader on the desktop, it actually names the icon after my wife, since i named the ipod for her in itunes.

In 9.3 nothing happened when i put it in the usb port.

Ah right. From that I'll assume they fixed that superblock thing, or implented a work around. Thanks for posting back, might have a look at 10.0 now.

I'd highly recommend it. I have not had a single problem with it yet and it's going on 1 week!!!

    iPods

    Aloha,
So it is recognized. But can you load iTunes? Is there an iTunes for Linux? The reason I ask is my wife has one and it is about the only reason she isn't going to Linux.

GNU/Linux is a powerful Free OS. Fear is a powerful motivator. Freedom is sweet. Fear GNU/Linux. Savor Freedom.

I haven't tried yet, but i'm sure it will. You'd have to run iTunes in wine or crossover-office though since iTunes doesn't come in penquin flavor. I ran iTunes in another distro with Crossover and didn't have any issues, but wasn't loading the ipod, just jammin' out. I will try it later today and let you know the results.

GTKPod has done nicely for me, though it's a barebones for loading the iPod, hardly a substitute for iTunes. I quite like the simplicity, and there is no DRM put on your MP3s AFAIK.
