No offense to anyone, but if you fall for that type of crap, you're an idiot and deserve to be scammed. How long have people been doing this type of thing? Haven't they heard enough from the news to "only donate to reputable organizations such as the Red Cross"?

I totally agree. Those e-mails are so corny you'd think anybody would no not to give or to even open them.

In real life, yes, they deserve to be scammed, but it's harder to determine the authenticity of a service or person over the internet (sometimes) Also note that a lot of peoples donations are like 1 dollar. So it's not liked they're getting scammed hundreds of dollars. Granted that 20,000 people donating one dollar = 20,000 dollars donated to helping actual causes.

I tend to be more understanding of people. It is easy for us to be "on the inside", having decent grasp of what is going on in technology to make these kind of judgements. There are millions of people using the internet without a understanding of anything going on. They don't understand how the scams work, only that they exist.
I try to see it from their viewpoints. For me thinking about being hustled by some car dealer who is trying to get me to buy a lemon is similar. I don't know anything about cars and I hope I would think enough about it to make the right decision. However, I don't feel that 100% confident that I would.Brilliant Mediocrity - Making Failure Look Good
