I feel bad for you... I downloaded the Fedora Core 3 distribution on 56k, installed it, and realized how much it actually sucked. I ended up throwing the CD-Rs away....

you know all that almost makes me feel bad that i have high speed and a machine with a big hard drive and a burner that i use for nothing but downloading and burning linux distros. i don't even have a monitor keyboard or mouse hooked up to it. just remote in and start the download and let it go. check it when i think about it. i'm livin on top ramen but hey isn't it worth it sometimes???

Newegg has a socket 939 3000+ for $146, you can find for less if you look around.

So what's so bad about having a box only for downloading Linux distros??? That's pretty cool. I wish I could afford a high-speed connection...

i actually don't have a land line phone so i can't do dialup, but for the cost of dialup and the cost of a land line phone i'm looking just over thirty bucks which is what i pay for my high speed so it's not too bad a deal. and offering to fix people's computers all the time they give me components so i was able to build the extra machine for nothing. what can i say even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while.

I did the same thing with Slackware. Thing was that I even had high speed...but the seed was pure crap. so it took about 30hrs or something for the 4cds. Then it was 64bit and on top of that I found someone who wanted it. So I was like, enjoi. I'm gonna go back to Debian.

and *golfclap*
