    My Observations...

I've made the observation that most Linux users are either socialists or libertarians, just from reading the debate on anarchy we had here a few weeks ago. I'd like to find out if this is true or not.
Try to keep this a non-debate thread by not posting stuff, just voting.

I voted for neither...I don't like to be put into any set category...I just say what I feel, and that often changes with my mood, or if I see one side outbalancing another. I have have been known to "debate" with my friends just for the fun of it, so regardless of whether I believe one thing or another, if I see an opportunity to "fight", I go for it:)

I know you don't want folks to post, but I must say that I'm really neither, although if I had to choose between the two, it would definately be libertarian. I'm not completely in agreement with everything they espouse, I rather identify myself as a Constitutionalist.

Maybe you could expand a little on what you really mean by these tags. As a European, the spectrum of political affiliation seems much broader. I suspect that our definition of 'socialist' is likely to be different to that of Americans.

In the UK such points of view as 'socialist' and 'liberal' are echoed by traditional political parties (the Labour party and the Liberal party respectively) but there is another mainstream political party that represents another view.

As a result, I dont feel I can currently vote here because I'm not sure I understand the question.

Sorry, I suppose I was really only thinking of the American definitions. By socialist, I mean somebody who wants to expand the welfare system to cover more people with more benifits, and having more "worker-friendly" mechanisms such as national public healthcare. By libertarian, I mean sombody who wants to cut down on government spending as much as possible, and sombody who believes that welfare should be cut as much as possible as well simply because people who recieve it do not deserve it due to laziness to not get a job.

Then I wish I hadn't answered "Libertarian" since your definition of it is extremely inaccurate.

not a full on socalist. belive in workers rights and national health care, but not in welfare for thouse who can work that will not work. Also a belives that relgion and poltics dont go together and monarchy is an out dated system(republican).
