Rather amusing message in the installation of SuSE 10
When I first booted into my SuSE 10 DVD it tells me

Before I got the ACPI correctly in slack, I remember it saying "power down" and expecting you to press the power button...

Doesn't every shell do that though? Whenever I shutdown from the terminal it says "the system is going down NOW!". I think it's just a universal *nix thing.

I mean after the system is finished shutting down, just without the ACPI it could'nt turn off the power. What I meant was the last message printed on screen before stalling.

I got something like that from a LiveCD. It wasn't about 64 bit, but it just basicly said that my system was not quite up to the specs needed for SuSE. That was in my dual PIII with 1Gb ram, so I didn't even bother to figure out what the deal was......damned lizardCode:cool computer but... You need to enable ACPI. It's the power management for modern computers. It may already be installed but need to be appended to your entry in the bootloader to enable it.
