something wierd
ok i recently went on a trip and took my good old notebook with my wireless card with me. of course i have slackware and use KDE but when i got there i noticed that the hotel i was staying at had an AP so i could connect to the internet. however i could only connect using services other than the browser. i could connect to GAIM and mozilla mail browser. but mozilla and the other 5 or so browsers including link would not ever get to a website. now the first thing that is going to be asked is about dns well even when i would try connecting by googles IP address i could not connect either. now the hotel forwarded me to a help line but they tried rebooting thier equipment and such and didnt really know linux. i checked to see if iptables was running but it wasnt. i checked everything including pinging the addresses but ping didnt seem to work either. anyone know what would cause this. i couldnt think it would be on my end but who knows. i just want to know because it was such a wierd occurrance.
