WOW! I got some ancient stuff!
So I was poking around the desk today and found 3 floppies that I thought I should boot, well actually 2. The first one was one that was labeled "DOS system" and the other two where labeled "Linux Install" and "Linux suplimental". So I was like, what the heck, I'm not doing anything anyway.
So I boot the DOS disk. It start by saying "Initializing Windows 95", and I was like "DAMN! this thing is old". It boots, I do a dir and get 1 file: command.com. This has officially been labeled the most worthless floppy in my house.
Then I restarted and booted the Linux disk. The usual SYSLINUX message comes up, and brings me to the boot prompt. I start reading... blah blah blah "Red Hat Linux 2.0".
Talk about old.
This reminds me that a friend was all like "I have a Red Hat 6.0 CD". I need to remember letting him know I have a Red Hat 2.0 floppy set. I didn't install it since I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be able to function to well (I booted it on a Dell 8200 P4 with all sort of crap on it).
Do any of you guys have anything like that around? BTW, if anyone wants a copy of these just so you can be as cool as me, I can make an image for you.

lol, i have heaps of old junk like that handed down to me from my dad. I still got NT Server 2 or 3 (i can't remember which one) on 20 floppies somewhere downstairs. Also are stuff like Win 3.1 DOS 2, really old Caldera Linux, Red Hat etc...
Life is complex, it has a real part and an imaginary part.

My uncle gave me some disk tools for MS-DOS 5.0... I have Lotus123 (the first real productivity suite) in the basement somewhere. Lots of old MS-DOS stuff sitting around. Oh, then I've got -- check this out -- a computer with
80 megabyte HDD
640 kilobyte RAM
5 1/2 inch floppy drive
The BIOS is set to 1989. It has the really big monitor and keyboard ports too. AND it still works on MS-DOS 5.0.
I've got one of those really loud Dot Matrix printers from 1988. That still works too.
So see, it is still possible to use a computer from 1988. This one even has Word Perfect 5.0 installed.

I'm pretty sure the Red Hat 2.0 and Win95 boot disk are the only things I have that are like that. I actually found a floppy of a program called "VGACopy", which I used way back then that made perfect clones of floppies.
The only old hardware I have is a Compaq Contura Aero 4/33, which still works and has Win 3.11 on it. Specs: 486SX, 4MB RAM, no internal removable drives, 8.6" LCD screen. I can't remember exactly when we bought it, but I think it was in '92 or '93.
