I think it's good because it's a waste of time in there anyway and by not spending time there we actually answer tech questions instead of rants.

Rants can be posted in any subforum... Too bad so few people post / answer in the 'Hi I'm new' topics anymore... How come?!

Yes, I'm glad we don't get credit for them anymore. Some of the posts that were going in there were downright pathetic.

I think it was a great idea.
There were a ton of worthless posts. And not just the ones like, "I just got my first penguin".
    Those rarely come up anymore.
And I have noticed that alot fewer people respond to the ones borromini mentioned.

p.s. I do miss all of the bananas though.
    For old times sake.

I also think it is a good idea, cos it doesnt matter really if you only answer in a few words, and dont have to make stuff up

I noticed since the change that I have been less frequent in my visits to the coffee lounge, which I suppose means that I am one of those shallow penguin seeking wannabes. Oh, well.
I prefer the new system though.
As this is the first forum I joined when I started using linux it more accurately reflects my own knowledge of what I'm doing here (not a lot of knowledge but I know how turn my puter on and off )

Post count means nothing, since posts don't matter, the fact one doesn't get n more of them or not in the coffee lounge, for what are often pathetic posts is good.

I agree... There are two ways of getting a high post count: 1) helping lots of people 2) asking a lot of questions yourself. Before, there was a 3) Posting as much gibberish as possible

Change is always hard for some, even if it's for the better. It's a shame that the lounge became away for a few select people to ruin the whole system, but that seems to be intrinsic to human nature. The lounge has taken a hit since then, but the community still seems to be thriving and the conversation seems to be more on track. Although I, too, miss the abundance of Mr. Banana. What the hell, for old times!
