Yes, Quake 4 is upon us. For those who were alienated by the non-existent single player game in Quake 3 and pined for the dark storyline and creepy enemies of the Strogg, I think this game will probably fill that void. I of course aim to write a review on it as soon as there is a Linux client available, which if precedent holds should be about a month or so from now. I've already reserved my copy of the Collector's Edition DVD (which also includes Quake 2 and both expansion packs). What about you all? Who else will be picking this one up?Registered Linux user #270181

When they release a linux client, I'm all over this one. Just picked up a copy of Doom 3 last week (I know it's been out forever, but I just hadn't been playing games much at all for a long time, so why spend the money) and I'm finding it to be a very pretty game with very repetitive action...hopefully Quake 4 will be a more "fleshed out" shooter
There are two major products that come out of Berkeley: LSD and UNIX. We don't believe this to be a coincidence.

i cant wait
- 10-18-2005 #6I saw LinuxGames.com quote Timothee Bissett (ttimo) as saying he expects to have the Linux client out a few weeks after the retail box ships. I'm expecting they'll probably take the same amount of time as Doom 3, which puts it at a month or two rather than a week or two, but I'll gladly be proven wrong.

IGN seem to have mixed views over Quake 4. Hopefully I'll be another ID masterpiece.
We should get together online to have a kind of LFDO deathmatch. In fact, I'm surprised we've never done that before with one of the UTs or Quake 3
- 10-18-2005 #9I'm not reading any reviews until after I've played it myself (which according to the place I reserved it, might just be tonight). I've already bought it, and I'm sure it will be at least decent. It has potential to be a classic.
