New ASUS laptop: A6Km
Today ASUS announced a new laptop, the ASUS A6Km, which uses Turion64 processors and Geforce Go 7300 Graphics
Ive been waiting for a long time for a laptop like this, it seemed the only way i could get nVidia graphics and AMD64 chips was to shell out $4000 for a desktop replacement. Hopefully, this will be a little more affordable
has anyone else heard about the GeForce 7300? I would assume its somewhere between the 6800 and 7800. im just looking for a laptop that cam run linux along with a few games, and this looks to be it.

Huh? I'm writing this on my HP with AMD64 and NVidia graphics. Got a gig of memory too - for 800 quid (probly ~$1200). Runs Linux a treat (only the wireless LAN was a bugger to set up)

Nice, finally a laptop with Turion64 and nvidia.
Roxoff, the reason why people are happy with this combo (Turion and nvidia) is that the Turion is the AMD equivalent of a Centrino and hence has most of the power of a full Athlon64 with the powersaving features of a Centrino. Also inclusion of nvidia card means that 3D in linux is a reality.Life is complex, it has a real part and an imaginary part.

i looked, and hp didnt offer an amd/nvidia laptop, at least not here in the states (maybe its only available overseas)
- 10-26-2005 #7Could be a UK or EU only model for sure. It's an HP Pavilion zv5000, goes like smoke. Quicker than my old P4 desktop, but is held back slightly by the 2.5inch IDE drive.

there's a topic in the Laptop forum about Turions. someone said that Turions aren't as good with linux as centrino. is this true?
UPDATE: i know this is fairly quick but a quick google showed that it might be the radeon mobo causing this: http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=suse...2595601673&w=2 in case anyone else is interested. i really hope it isn't the turion causing the problem because i really want to get 64-bit computing for my laptop. Here's why Linux is easier than Windows:
Package Managers! Apt-Get and Portage (among others) allow users to install programs MUCH easier than Windows can.
Hardware Drivers. In SuSE, ALL the hardware is detected and installed automatically! How is this harder than Windows' constant disc changing and rebooting?

I have always wondered, what Centrinos are 64-bot, if any, and what P4 processors too, please.

AFAIK, none of the centrino chips support 64bit, and a few of the P4s do, the ones with EM64T technology
