I don't want to start *yet another* debate here, but what possible performance gain could you get from overclocking a dual-core CPU that would be worth the risk of frying a $500 processor? I just don't understand the overclockers' line of thinking.

Jump in gaming performance. My friend OC'd his about 400MHz...worked great. He sees a slight increase in fps while gaming.

I dunno what the appeal really is...I guess he's really into benchmarking and stuff.

I am also planning to OC the hell outta my athlon 64....to keep up with the newer tech.

ya, i can relate to that, because i overclocked my Sempron (which is the worst processor as most know) and it ran UT2004 at like....20 more FPS. I think i might get the dual core since UT2k4 kind of needs it (if you have ever read the FAQ in the UT2k4 folder you would know why).

Umm.. I must have missed that part of the FAQ. *No current game on the market* needs a dual-core processor. UT2003/2004, Doom 3, and Quake 4 all run beautifully on my single-core CPU.

as of right now, there really is no advantage (for gaming), but since I don't do a lot of gaming, and rather multitasking, it might be a nice upgrade.

I'm not sure about the rules on bumping, but its kind of important since i need this list done before the 7th of December (my birthday).

From what it looks like everything is compatible, but i'm not sure...so if anyone can tell me if something messed up in there please do. Also, if they know where to get the stuff for cheaper (and it not be refurbrished or whatever) please post that too.

Also, don't get the idea that i'm not doing my part of the research...i know how to use google...and the compare button....so don't go like "Well just look at the...stuff". I just want to make sure EVERYTHING is correct....it would suck to find out that my processor doesn't work or something....
