Linux has killed my productivity!!! (there is an iPod ? too)
i am sad to say that linux has DESTROYED my productivity... no i don't mean that it is slow... or that software is bad... but since installing linux i have taken to playing with it ALL THE TIME... and all the things I SHOULD be doing .... i am not! stoopid linux!!!
the real reason behind my post is that i am wondering if someone can tell me if you can boot USB with an gen 4 iPod (i have one of them 20gb monochrome beasts). It has been sitting on my A/V stack with a 20 ft firewire cable going to one of my boxes for updating. i don't really use it for portability but instead as a media source for my a/v system. but i am wondering if i can put DSL on it and use it to boot form .... i googled ... but google is giving me some trouble and not telling me what i want to know. i have found some info about linux ON the ipod... that ibm is using ipods to boot linux... and that there are ipods shipped with linux on it that can be used to BOOT a G4 or G5 ppc ... but that doesnt help me at all!!!

on top of that ... if you have a digital camera that interfaces EXACTLY like a flash drive ... do you think it would be freasable to boot from that as well? seems like something productive and more like a parlor trick at a friends place ('hey check out these pictures...' you say haveing just boot their windows pc to linux using your camera)

yes ... i put openSUSE 10 on my mother's computer.... and she apparently just plays frozen bubble when she can't figure somethine out ... this is of course after she emails me a question about it ... but i assure this takes up a great deal of her time. i myself have while'd away many an hour with chromium b.s.u. and trackballs.
does anyone have an answer to my ipod question?Old Skewl - AMD Athlon XP 1600+ / 512mb / 160gb / nVidia GeForce 4 4800ti 128mb / openSUSE 10.0 / 2.6.13-15 / (puter geek . linux noob)

i can't ... well i can but i am won't ... i have a 4g on which linux is not stable or supported ... and after reading the reviews about the terrible quality of the audo and lack of AAC support (almost everything i have is AAC encoded)... i will pass thanks... i don't need the little games or the file browser bad enough to risk it, besides ... as i said above... i don't really drag it around with me much ... but this leads to another problem ... boot linux and ipod bring up a list of how to install linux on an ipod ... not how to boot FROM an ipod ... i have found a few articles that state that it has been done... but not HOW it was done. I just want dsl or knoppix on the drive.... but not lose the useabilty of the AppleOS on it.
