I think you can understand posting this on a linux forum is asking for criticism . Even in our venerable coffee lounge :P.

It's the Coffee Lounge, not the place to be productive

I don't understand the point of bashing Windows.
    Seems kind of child-like.
Actually there are quite a few people on this forum that dual-boot with Windows.
As for Vista being a resource-hog, this is well-known, no point in going over it again.

I totally agree. I personally dislike Windows but rather than ***** about it I just don't use it. Simple. And as I don't use it I don't have to talk about it because for me it's no longer an issue.

If others want to use Windows (or any other OS for that matter) I have no problem with that either. This is all about choice and as far as I'm concerned Windows is just another choice. It's not the choice I'd make but that's just me.

Somebody needs to do a little "inflation study", meaning, take a look at the minimum requirements for vista and figure out what that meant 5 or 10 years ago, taking price into account. I mean, while 512MB of RAM seems like a lot, I can get a stick of it (ddr) for under $40. Ten years ago, I bought a stick of 8MB (33Mhz) RAM for $80, so let's put this all into perspective...

A 2Ghz P4 can be purchased for under $100, so we are not looking at that high of requirements here... I mean, really, that is like a system requiring a P2 with 128MB of RAM just a few years back and was anyone up in arms???

Hardware is so extremely cheap. When I can go to my nearest mart-type store and pick up a 120GB harddrive for $60, you can be complaining about the higher minimum requirements...
