Compared to most people, I have very few bookmarks. Mainly for programming and some ftp sites. Only 42 so far....

First, you need your bookmarks.html file. Either locate it within ~/.mozilla , or you can export your bookmarks to an html file. Then run a command like this:

    egrep -c "<[aA] [hH][rR][eE][fF]=" bookmarks.html

The number is prints will be the number of bookmarks you have. In my earlier post my grep command was a little different, but this one should be more reliable.
    Hey thanks! That's really useful.

I have hardly any right now; I have the file backed up on disc from a few weeks ago, but I rarely use them anyway.

An update: 722 as of: 11032005CE0732MST

As I said, far too many, but I do visit them all periodically.

Most of these are sites that I came across when searching on some topic or other that I was (and usually still am) interested in. Linux, UNIX, Scottish/Celtic history and mythology, humorous sites, and so forth. Far too many,
