I don't usually run Suse, but this was still a bit of a surprise to me:

this is FUD. Novell president said
"We will continue to focus on growth areas in our business, identity, and our core platforms"
Linux is a growth area. Suse is fine.Brilliant Mediocrity - Making Failure Look Good

I hope it is, since installing it I really have started to take a fancy to it. It's the only distro I have ever been able to install without any problems too

Say hypothetically Suse does get cut, it is still an open source project and could therefore be continued by the community. It may be different from what it is now but it would still be Suse.

as virgil83 said, the article is FUD. suse is not being chopped. nobody has gone from hulu. no developers have gone from mono. the article is just the result of a KDE developer who's naturally upset at losing his job.

Another article disproving this.

I'm going to take the old "wait and see attitude"... as it's a well known fact that large companies will often give out false information, but it's also a certainty that disgruntled ex-employees will spout off with absurdities.
Time will no doubt reveal the truth about Novell, and Suse.

there is now an article on OSnews and /. that claims SUSE are now switching to Gnome as the default desktop. That's fine and everything, but really what bothers me is one of the nicest things about SUSE is the amount of polish they put into the KDE desktop on their system.
