Linux on the stock market
Me and my friend were talking about this recently. We were thinking that buying stock in some linux distrobution companies would be a good idea. However, we couldn't really find any on the American market. What do you guys think about this? Do you think it's a good idea or bad?

I was thinking about that too.
How can one buy their (Red Hat or Novell) stocks?

Well you wouldn't just jump in and buy them, research them first and stuff and then talk to other people you know about if it's a good idea. In addition to RedHat and Novell I also found VALinux (LNUX is what it is on the market) and shares of that are just a dollar. I think that would be the best investment since there isn't really any room to go down at all.

I talked my mother into buying shares of RedHat. She's been pleased with her investment.

I think you can buy Mandriva stocks. I haven't a clue about how, but I found this link. SuSE might also be an option. I think The Brazilians are packaging up new boxes with Mandriva, and selling them/giving them to their citizens. Perhaps this will boost Mandriva a little.

I would say RedHat or Novell. I don't know what Mandriva's about, but the fusion, blabla, I don't have a good impression of them as a company.
