A few words to introduce myself
Hello to everyone,
I just joined a few weeks ago and wanted to say hi. A few words about myself might serve as introduction. I am a retired school teacher, recently moved from Kansas (to escape the tornadoes) to southern Louisiana, where the main difference I note is that in Kansas we don't name the tornadoes. But Katrina missed me and so did Rita. Almost.
I know a little about computers and even trained on an Apple 2e. Not satisfied with what Microsoft has dealt me these last few years, I am working to get the SUSE 9.3 program I bought to co-exist with WIN XP. If enough of you will help me, I just might live long enough to see it happen.
I think I'm going to like it here.

- 11-08-2005 #7I could be wrong, but I believe he was contrasting the extreme weather they get in Kansas (tornadoes) with that of Louisiana (hurricanes). I doubt very seriously there's much of a hurricane problem in Kansas.

Do I know the difference between a hurricane and a tornado?
Yes.
A hurricane is bigger, slower, and sometimes meaner. A tornado is bad news too, but you don't have to hold your breath for three days wondering if the *#%!! thing has your name on it or will somehow turn just a little before it makes landfall.
Hurricanes in Kansas are rare. Good thing, too. We have enough problems with blue Northers and dust rollers.
