    A must get for newbies

Hey, the new issue of the magazine, Linux Format, came out with a Live distro of Knoppix, as in, you don't have to install it, you can try it out from the disk. Also it has a full copy of Wine, a must have for Win-migrants (Windows immigrants) going to Linux. I know some people will be like, "uhh duh, it's always like that" but this is my first time seeing it, and I think most newbies like me should know about this if they don't already.

Or download it for free instead of paying for the mag. That's what I did since I'm poor and didn't feel like waiting. 45 minutes to download with DSL, 7 minutes to burn. I'm using it now (instead of SuSE) because I'm having some hard drive failure problems. -grumble- And it's hard to learn linux stuff (and annoying) when you can't save information to a hard drive. So I'm stuck not learning for a while. Anyway...yeah. I guess you could argue that they have useful info in the mag, but we have this wonderful forum and google, don't we? -shrug- A couple bucks is just a couple to some. But some of us (me) are poor. Anyway...just an alternative. Or you could get the SuSE live DVD if you have a DVD burner. But Knoppix is nice. It's surprisingly fast!
