    Who here will put Linux on their PS3???

    I have heard rumors about PS3 being able to run Linux right out of the box. I am not sure how true these rumors are. I would not be surprised if they are true.

    ahh, why the hell would you buy a brand new ps3 ($300+) and put linux on it.
    You would be trading an awesome gaming machine for a slow arse computer!

    no, you dont have to mod it, the hd (may) come wiith it

    NetBSD is the only *nix operating system directly supporting PS3. They have a version out for PS2 right now.

    actualy ibm has been goving code to the linux developers to support the cell. and im shure it wont be all that weak. it should be good for all media stuff.

    No. Sony plans to ship their hard drive with Linux already installed on top of Cell OS (Their also already existed a few Linux distros made for PS2).

    Downside: This extra hard drive will (most likely) not come as default.

    I think a hard drive will come with the PS3 because the xbox comes with a hard drive and Sony is comming into the game late. (later then MS)
