    How good is your memory?

    From the forums page: "Most users ever online was 1122 on 02 Oct 2004 07:25 pm"

    Anyone remember what was going on that day? Anything special? Just curious... (and maybe just a little too tired and bored... )

    (Forgive me if I am being lazy - too much effort trying to find significant posts around that time-frame...)

    Apparaently these forums were slashdotted because lakerdonald did an interview with some guy.

    edit:: link discussing this effect

    Thanks!

    (AlexK, I caught your first draft before you edited it -- it's O.K. - wasn't sure what to search for - didn't think I could search by the date - didn't think about searching for "logged in users" [duh?] -- which brings me to the question --- How in the world do you search a phrase? I haven't figured that out yet - putting in quotes - single or double - won't work...)

    EDIT:
    It will work if you put it in the recently-added-by-Jason-google-site-search box in the upper-right corner of the page -- but I have yet to get it to work in the "regular" [linux forums] search...

    Well, the thing is i remembered that techieMoe posted about this a few months back and that the reason why so many users was due to slashdot.

    Now, all I did was search in forum "Coffee Lounge", poster as techieMoe and specific term as "slashdotted". That brought up someposts (I think it was the last one). Which in turn linked to another post which discussed the interview and stuff.

    For phrases, normally I just type in the phrase withou quotes, and hit the search all terms radio button. It works similar to "insert phrase here" search.

    Slashdot always seems to have that effect, you post a link and everyone rushes to view it, hence the term "they got slashdotted", the question is always, can they handle it.
