What's the best 'free' forum script?

In your experience, which do you think is the best?

I'm trying to start up a forum community and would like suggestions on which I should use.

I would say SMF, but really i would use http://forumer.com but the bad this about this is that you can't host it on your website, you need to use their hosting. Remember click on inivasion board setup, not phpbb. Myself i don't like phpbb but really i dont mind it

I tried FUDForum (www.fudforum.org) at the weekend, I wasn't that impressed though. I would still vote for phpBB.

How would I be able to put a PHPBB forum on a page of my website, it is a project for school, and could be really useful to get more marks. Doing it in HTML

imo, phpbb is a GREAT forum system. Let's just about anyone start a forum.

But that creates a whole new problem, lol.

HAHA,

Imagine, a forum discussing what is happening in the neighbourhood, a forum about parking, a forum about mrs aberson's new garden makeover
