chris-harry, freeDOS is not microsoft, dos is something that was taken by MS for like 100,000 dollars, which made 'em billions.

Dell is shipping FreeDOS with their "no OS preinstalled" computers.

Yeah, it's important to remember that DOS was never a creation of Microsoft in the first place, they just purchased it and implemented it in their GUIs for many years (making them billions, as said before). Therefore, DOS isn't really Microsoft's property, which is why there have been so many spin-offs like DR-DOS and FreeDOS. Either way, why do you want DOS? Why not just get a Linux live CD? I mean DOS is pretty junky... you'd probably have better experiance with Minix.

Well, this is why i'm using FreeDOS.

I need to get a command prompt, so I can install a boot loader to the harddrive, so that I can boot to a CD. I can't boot to a CD otherwise because both the floopy and the CD drive are external, and plug into USB. There is only one USB port on the computer.

Do you guys know of any other bootloader I can install to the harddrive without using a command prompt?
