What are we going to do...?

What are we going to do when Linux hits the big time and everyone uses it to be proper, good ol' geeks? I mean, right now there is a certain geek factor to it, but when everyone uses it, Linux will be normal. Any suggestions?

Geekiness will be decided based on how high one places in the annual Obfuscated C and Obfuscated Perl contests.

I have said it, it shall be so.

Write a quantum kernel for a quantum computer.

Make some completely different OS or something that no one uses. Then we can keep our geekiness.

Exactly. If it hits the big times, we come up with an even geekier OS that is so geeky that no one but us will want to use it .

you people have the wrong outlook on it. I say when it becomes normal we(who started early) will be the "elite" group of techies that can fix/upgrade/etc. computers

Yeah I had thought of that too. That's another reason I'm trying to learn this now, so in the future I can get a job fixing peoples Linux computers...And charging them a small fortune to do it .

If a person as hopeless as me (with computers) is using Linux then it is already at the point you are describing. Many professors at the University I attend are using Linux... I for one rejoice whenever I see a person curious about Linux and exploring the possibility of using Linux on a daily basis [Small step: "Firefox rocks! Why didn't you tell me it was better than IE?"]

In other words: I would love to see everybody, geeks and non-geeks, in the world use Linux and don't worry about it becoming non-geeky

What will distinguish geeks from the rest of the crowd? Thick glasses?
