One channel is bad enough.
And the part that I don't understand is why they air poker on sports channels.
Espn and Fox Sports. How to know if you are a geek.

Huh? Just 'cos you dont like poker doesn't mean it shouldn't be shown. Watch a different channel - what you're complaining about here is freedom of choice (like the freedom to use vi or emacs...)

I am not saying that poker shouldn't be shown on TV but I have seen it displayed in no less than three channels at the same time: FSN, Travel Channel and ESPN.
What is worse: they air the same show over and over again. This, in my opinion, is precisely not giving the viewer more choices. How would you feel if no less than three channels were airing the same type of show?
Don't you think that's excessive? Seriously! Sports networks could do a lot better and offer more diverse sporting events.-D-

But they're fulfilling a demand. I've seen the times when 3 digital channels here in the UK have been showing Star Trek and its many variants at the same time. I've seen it when they show the football on two of the primary analogue terrestrial channels (there are only 5) at the same time, and have it also obliterate all the sports broadcasting on digital/satellite too. And channels like UKTV Gold and G2 have a habit of repeating the same episodes of Only Fools and Horses or Doctor Who. I really dont have a problem with any of this.

Is not that I have a problem with three channels showing Texas Hold'em but that it is irritating perse
and that I would much rather see more variety. Though I wouldn't have a problem with re-runs of Star Trek
because I love 7 of 9 and the new Vulcan chick

One word for annoying TV...Paid Programming. If you had any idea how much I hate having to flip passed it at 3am when there's some moron on there plugging a book or talking about how I can improve my life which doesn't involve them getting shot, I would take poker over that any day.
- 11-29-2005 #8As long as I pay for sattelite TV, I have a right to complain when the programs they show don't appeal to me. I would extend this not just to poker shows, but to any and all "reality TV" shows, game shows like "Fear Factor", and anything at all on that channel G4.

- 11-29-2005 #10I love CSI. One of the best written shows on TV... I forgot to mention Celebrity Poker on Bravo so that makes 4 channels showing Texas hold'em...
