    hmm. the worse hardware story that i have related to servers and **** like that would be when i was messing with someones RAID setup and i dropped a screw from the table and it landed in such a way that it killed the whole mobo. the computer was running on its side and i was screwing something else together. that sucked.

    Backups are very important..however they're not worth anything when you copy over it with the old stuff. Yep.

    I still feel stupid..ha

    Deleted windows partition when tried to install Free BSD 5.2. My wife's dissertation was there. She had backed it up, but not the latest chapter. Luckily, I was able to recover it with Partition Recovery Expert (software by Acronis) and use Knoppix to get the files out of it. Now, I create backups before experimenting with new systems.
