Hey, even a 1GB server machine uses swap space, even when there is still RAM free, so I don't think it would count.

I gots me 512mb ram and 1006mb swap and the only time i've noticed any swap being used is after a suspend-to-disk. Does that mean using suspend to disk frees up more ram?
    No really...Does it?

That doesnt matter, it matters what apps you are running, what services, and what DE you are using... not how long you are using it for. I had a 256mb RAM 900mhz machine on for four days, and it didnt swap once. Running Flux, most services I had on and running no apps.
